The Spy in Black ˙(sh. Špijun u crnom) je britanski crno-bijeli igrani film snimljen u režiji Michaela Powella i premijerno prikazan 1939. godine, poznat kao prvo djelo znamenitog scenarističko-režiserskog tandema Powell i Pressburger.

Scenario filma je napisao Emeric Pressburger prema istoimenom romanu J. Storera Cloustona iz 1917. godine. Radnja se događa na otočju Orkney za vrijeme Prvog svjetskog rata, a naslovni lik, koga tumači Conrad Veidt, je zapovjednik njemačke podmornice koji se iskrcava na obalu kako bi uz pomoć njemačkih agenata isplanirao te potom izveo napad na britansku mornaričku bazu u Scapa Flowu.

The Spy in Black je bio originalno zamišljen kao tzv. brzinski film za kvotu u produkciji britanske podružnice hollywoodskog studija Columbia Pictures. Projekt je, pak, kao producent preuzeo Alexander Korda koji je angažirao Powella, impresioniran njegovim ranijim filmom The Edge of the World, ali i uvjeren kako bi diplomatska kriza u kojoj se našla tadašnja Evropa, odnosno mogućnost izbijanja novog rata temu učinila aktualnom. Iako je film snimljen 1938. godine, njegova premijera je odgađana sve do neposredno pred sam rat. Nedugo nakon izbijanja rata je pod naslovom U-Boat 29 (sh. Podmornica 29) distribuiran na američkom tržištu gdje mu je dodatni publicitet dao spektakularni njemački podmornički napad na Scapa Flow u kome je potopljen britanski bojni brod HMS Royal Oak.
