Zasięg występowania
Rodzaj obejmuje gatunki występujące w Kongu, Demokratycznej Republice Konga, Angoli, Zambii, Namibii, Botswanie, Zimbabwe, Mozambiku i Południowej Afryce[3].

Etymologia
Xenocalamus: gr. ξενος xenos „obcy, dziwny”[4]; καλαμος kalamos „trzcina”[5].
