LMFAO（エルエムエフエーオー）は、アメリカ合衆国のエレクトロホップデュオである。2006年にカリフォルニア州ロサンゼルスで、ラッパー、ダンサー、DJのレッドフーとスカイブルーによって結成された。2人はそれぞれモータウンの創設者ベリー・ゴーディの息子と孫である^[1]^[2]。グループ名はインターネットスラングの「LMFAO」（「Laughing My Fucking Ass Off（大爆笑）」の頭字語）からきている^[3]。

モータウン創始者ベリー・ゴーディの孫（ベリー・ゴーディの3番目の子供であるベリー・ゴーディ4世の息子）。

概要

2009年に正式メジャーデビューを果たした、ラップデュオ。

2011年に発表したシングル「Party Rock Anthem」が全米最高1位を記録し、100万ダウンロードを突破する大ヒット曲となる。また、同曲は世界7カ国以上のシングルチャートにて最高1位を記録した。

2012年9月、「今が別々の道を選ぶべきタイミングである」とし、無期限活動休止を宣言（ただし解散は否定している）。レッドフー、スカイブルー共に2013年にソロ・アルバムをリリースしている。

エピソード

一部の作品のPVは映画のパロディー要素がある。例として「Party Rock Anthem」は『28日後...』、「Champagne Showers」は『フロム・ダスク・ティル・ドーン』のパロディーとなっている。
「Party Rock Anthem」は、ブームが落ち着いた現在でも日本では人気が根付いており、テレビCM「au 4GLTEPLAY SCREEN篇」のコマーシャルソングや、テレビ朝日系列「ロンドンハーツ」のBGM、フジテレビ系列の「クイズ30〜団結せよ!〜」のテーマソングとしても起用されている。また横浜DeNAベイスターズの試合開始前のBGMとしてや選手の登場曲など、プロ野球界でも幅広く親しまれている。
