The Horizontal Lieutenant adalah seorang film perang komedi romansa Amerika Serikat tahun 1962, berdasarkan pada novel tahun 1961 The Bottletop Affair karya Gordon Cotler yang menjadi penerjemah Jepang untuk US Army Intelligence pada Perang Dunia II.[2] Film tersebut adalah sebuah film komedi militer tentang letnan intelijensi tentara tak beruntung yang menemukan bahwa ia terisolasi pada sebuah pos tentara pulau Jepang terpencil pada Perang Dunia II.[3] Film tersebut dibintangi oleh Jim Hutton dan Paula Prentiss dan disutradarai oleh Richard Thorpe.

Film tersebut adalah film terakhir dari empat film hasil kerjasama antara Hutton dan Prentiss setelah Where the Boys Are, The Honeymoon Machine dan Bachelor in Paradise.[4][5]
