Xiaomi 12 is a line of Android-based smartphones manufactured by Xiaomi.^[5] It was launched on 28 December 2021.^[6]

Xiaomi 12 Pro is a bigger and improved version of Xiaomi 12 but with telephoto replaced telephoto macro on Xiaomi 12. Xiaomi 12X has the same specifications as Xiaomi 12 but with less powerful chipset and a miss of wireless charging.^[6]

On 7 July 2022 with Xiaomi 12S Series was unveiled Xiaomi 12 Pro Dimensity with MediaTek Dimensity 9000+, camera setup from Xiaomi 12, bigger battery and less charging speed comparing to Xiaomi 12 Pro.^[7]

Design

Front made of Corning Gorilla Glass Victus. Back made of glass or eco-leather in green versions of Xiaomi 12 and 12 Pro. Frame made of aluminium.

The design of all smartphones in Xiaomi 12 Series is similar but Pro models have bigger dimensions (152.7 mm (6.01 in) × 69.9 mm (2.75 in) × 8.2 mm (0.32 in) in Xiaomi 12 and 12X or 8.7 mm (0.34 in) leather version of Xiaomi 12 and 163.6 mm (6.44 in) × 74.6 mm (2.94 in) × 8.2 mm (0.32 in) in Xiaomi 12 Pro and 12 Pro Dimensity or 8.7 mm (0.34 in) leather version of Xiaomi 12 Pro).

On the bottom side, there is a USB-C port, speaker, microphone, and dual SIM tray. On the top, there is an additional microphone, IR blaster, and a second speaker. On the right, there is the volume rocker and a power button.

Xiaomi 12 and Xiaomi 12 Pro were available in 4 colors: Black, Blue, Purple, and Green (China exclusive).

Xiaomi 12X was available in 3 colors: Black, Blue, and Purple.

Xiaomi 12 Pro Dimensity was available in Black and Blue colors.

Xiaomi 12 and 12 Pro are the second smartphones after Motorola Edge X30 which received a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor.

Xiaomi 12X uses Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 instead of Snapdragon 8 Gen 1.

Xiaomi 12 Pro Dimensity is the first smartphone with MediaTek Dimensity 9000+.^[8]

Software

Initially, the Xiaomi 12 series was released with MIUI 13 based on Android 11 in Xiaomi 12X and based on Android 12 in other models. Later they were updated to HyperOS 1 based on Android 13 on Xiaomi 12X and based on Android 14 in other models.
