Aqqala (Persian: آق قلا)[a] is a city in the Central District of Aqqala County, Golestan province, Iran, serving as capital of both the county and the district.[4]

At the 2006 National Census, its population was 27,402 in 5,811 households.[5] The following census in 2011 counted 31,626 people in 8,062 households.[6] The latest census in 2016 showed a population of 35,116 people in 9,498 households.[2]
